What I’ve Been Up To

Well, since it’s been approximately eleventy billion years since I last posted, I figure that the old blog is way overdue for an update. So without further ado, here is what’s currently going on in the life of Madison.

  • School:  I just completed my first semester at Oklahoma Christian University with a 4.0 GPA.  I started the year with 6 hours of credit through CLEP tests and ACT credit and completed 14 hours this semester for a total of 20.  I’m taking 15 next semester and am hoping to CLEP out of an additional 15 through the summer of 2014, which will put me at 50 hours going into my sophomore year.  I’d like to push for graduating in 3 years instead of 4 as it seems like a doable challenge.
  • Work:  This past semester I worked one hour a week assisting in teaching a tumbling class at a local gym.  Hopefully I will be able to work more hours into my schedule during the Spring semester.  I also have a once weekly babysitting job for a ladies’ bible class lined up for next semester.  In addition, I am looking at the possibility of doing work study with the art department at OC.  Needless to say, next semester should be busy!
  • Break: I’m currently home for Christmas break and am enjoying every minute of it!  Even though college is cool and all, I do get pretty homesick.  I had surgery yesterday to remove hardware from the ankle I broke in April.  I’m glad to get that over with and I’m looking forward to being able to relax for the rest of the break without dreading being poked with needles!
  • Miscellaneous:  After my ankle heals, the owner of the gym I’m working at is willing to let me train a day or two per week as my schedule permits.  I’m really excited about this, as the gym I’ve been at since I was 14 is a tumbling and trampoline gym, but this new one is an artistic gymnastics gym.  I’ve always wanted to learn skills on bars and beam and now I finally have a chance!  I will be starting out pretty low level and am not looking to be competitive any more.  Instead I’m doing it to stay in shape and for the love of the sport.

Well, that about wraps it up!  I’m not sure how frequently I’ll be able to update in the spring semester – it depends on how crazy things get for me.  Make sure to drop by occasionally to see what I’m up to!
