January 1, 2014 – Happy New Year!

Well, today marks a brand new year and some new goals for blogging.  I wouldn’t exactly call it a New Year’s Resolution because I’m not exactly sure how realistic it is, but I really liked Kelli Taylor’s daily-posts-for-a-year blog and would like to do the same thing.  (Kelli is a member of Blimey Cow, one of my favorite YouTube channels, and her current blog can be found at She Learns As She Goes.)  Anyways, although I don’t know that I’ll be able to fit in a post every single day once school starts back up, I’d certainly like to give it a try!

Today’s activities for me consisted entirely of Six Flags with my awesome best friend & boyfriend!  My family bought season passes for Christmas this year and this is the second time in a week I’ve been!  I will definitely be using this for all it’s worth in the summer and during breaks from school.

I am a huge wimp about roller coasters and usually spend my entire trip riding the Runaway Mine Train.  That is like MY RIDE.  But… I had promised Calvin early last year that I would ride something bigger with him on homeschool discount day.  I was conveniently able to get out of that by simply breaking my ankle, and I thought that surely this agreement would be voided since it is, after all, an entirely NEW YEAR, but no… certain people would not accept this excuse.

So I ended up riding the Judge Roy Scream.

Guys.  I HATED IT.

Seriously though.  Roller coasters are just not my thing.  Especially that one.  There just weren’t any breaks between the death-defying plummets!

I think I’ll just stick with the mine train forever and live happily ever after.

Also, the season premier of Sherlock came out today… for people living in Great Britain.  This is sad.  Especially since it is available for download off the internet in the US, but my internet at home is so. slow. I. might. die.  As in, there is no hope for watching a 60 second YouTube video, let alone an entire episode of Sherlock.  Working internet is at least one reason I have to look forward to heading back to school on Sunday!
